Minister for the Acceleration of Development in Backward Regions Visited MelayuOnline.com

lukman edyYogyakarta, MelayuOnline.comMinister for the acceleration of development in backward regions, Ir. H. Lukman Edy, M.Si., and his staff visited the Center for Research and Development of Malay Culture, Yogyakarta, the Central institution of MelayuOnline.com on Friday (25/01), 18.33 p.m.

Upon his arrival, guided by the Director of MelayuOnline.com, H. Mahyudin Al Mudra, S.H., M.M., the Minister took a tour on  the Center, watching the traditional stuff of the Center and its collection. Besides, he also saw the process of writing the articles on Malay world. 45 minutes later, the Minister and the staff conducted an informal  dialogue with the crew of MelayuOnline.com in the meeting room. With the simple dishes such as cassava, boiled peanuts, and boiled corn, the dialogue have been held in friendly milieu.






lukman edyThe brief information on MelayuOnline.com was presented by Mahyudin to the Minister. In the occasion, he explained at glance about the menus on the website. ”MelayuOnline.com that provides all information about Malay, either for those who want to know it in brief or those who want to advance the knowledge on Malay world”, explained Mahyudin in his last presentation.

In his opening remark, the Minister appreciated the works that done by the Center for Research and Development of Malay Culture. He said that the collection, preservation and digitalization of Malay culture was the worth supporting. ”It is amazing to see the works of MelayuOnline.com‘s crew. Here, the Malay culture is not observed in the surface merely, it is also researched in detail. Therefore, those who want to know more about the Malay world, it is simple, just visit MelayuOnline.com”, said the Minister.

This youngest Minister in the Kabinet Bersatu also said that what had been done by the Center and MelayuOnline.com, which was to preserve the Malay culture, was extraordinary. Further, he asserted that the Center‘s work should be appreciated and supported by the Indonesian society. ”If I have an authority to present an award to Mr. Mahyudin as a figure of culture, I will do it”, said the Minister seriously.

Further, the Minister who was born in Indragiri Hilir, Riau, said that he is a son of  Malayan, was very proud of the presence of this portal and was ready to support the Center and MelayuOnline.com for realizing the core vision of the Center which was to create the Malay civilization ”Lots of information are provided by this portal, it will be a valuable input for the ministry in formulating its programs. Thus, I promise in myself to open it every day, and to help MelayuOnline.com at any time,” said the Minister, which received applause by the presents.

Afterwards, the secretary of Minister, Ir. Rachmat Tatang Bachrudin asserted that the programs of MelayuOnline.com for preserving the Nusantara culture, indirectly, had supported the program of Ministry for the Acceleration of Development in Backward Regions. Therefore, as Rachmat said, the opportunity to make joint programs was opened widely. Further he explained that the development meant here was the strengthening of local wisdom as the basis for the community development. ”On the approval of Mr. Minister, the ministry will put advertisement on the portal of MelayuOnline.com” said Rachmat.

After the 2 hours of dialogue, at 21.05 p.m., the Minister and his staff left the Center for his next agenda in Yogyakarta. At the end of dialogue, Mahyudin gave the Minister a book that was published by the Center under the title "Masyarakat Melayu dan Budaya Melayu dalam Perubahan" with 964 pages.
