Application of Malay Literature in Education
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam- Three Malay Literature teachers and lecturers yesterday spoke about ways to elevate the status of Malay Literature in everyday life, and prevent it from being forgotten at an event yesterday, held at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
The guest of honour was Dr Hj Ramlee bin Hj Tinkong, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, UBD.
The three speakers were Awang Markandi Kurus from the Language and Literature Bureau, Dyg Faridah bte Abd Hamid from Maktab Duli and Dyg Siti Khadijah bte Haji Metali from UBD.
The session was chaired by Awg Syahwal Nizam bin Haji Yani from UBD.
The seminar focused on literature in education and how literature is applied in educational institutions in Brunei Darussalam.
The seminar was attended by lecturers, teachers, undergraduates and also secondary school students.
The Seminar, dubbed 'Kursus AS2401 Sastera dan Pendidikan bagi sesi 2010/2011' or 'AS2401 Literature and Education 2010/2011 Course' was organised by undergraduates of Universiti Brunei Darussalam with the cooperation of RAKIS UBD and facilitated by UBD lecturers Awg Zefri Ariff Mohd Zain Ariff and Dyg Ena Hemi Wasli.
It was organised as part of the AS2401 course undergraduates' special task for their current semester.
The course was part of a new breadth course programme offered for UBD undergraduates.
Yesterday's seminar was aimed at exposing and observing the relationship between literature and education through a wider perspective as well as to be able to appreciate the value of literature and its application in education and everyday life. Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
