10 Students Off to Jakarta for Festival
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam - Ten local students will be representing Brunei at the Islamic Culture & Arts Festival and Muslim dialogue performances in Jakarta, Indonesia, which begins today and runs until September 24.
Five male students from Mahad Islam Brunei and five female students from RajaIsteriPengiranAnakDamitArabicReligiousSchool for Girls will be the pride of Brunei showcasing two cultural performances. The male students will perform a Nasyid entitled Hasbi Rabbi while the female participants will be performing a Nasyid and tausyeh presentation entitled As Sya'bu, Nahnul Islam (Nahnu Al-Islam), Al-Quran Guide of Life (Nasyid), Muhammad Yabna `Abdillah and Salawatul Quraaniyah (Salawat Al-Quraaniah).
Both cultural performances will be aired live on TVRI on September 23.
Besides the cultural performances, Brunei is also scheduled to present three topics, consistent with the religious activities in the country namely Dikir Brunei, Nasyid and Jawi writing.
The festival clearly supports the concept of the strategic development of a progressive Islamic way of life through the strengthening of Syair Islam and Dakwah.
MABIMS committee members (Brunei, Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore) have mutually agreed to stage the Islamic Culture & Arts Festival and Muslim dialogue artists during the 14th unofficial annual Ministers-in-Charge meeting in the Sultanate last year.
The head of delegation, Dayang Siti Mariam binti Awg Daud, leads the students.
