130 Artists to Take Part in Yogya Street Festival
Yogyakarta, Indonesia - At least 130 local and foreign artists are set to take part in the Jogja Street Performance 2011 scheduled to run from Sep. 26 to 28.
Organized by the Yogyakarta Tourism Agency, the event will feature art groups from a number of regions across the country, including Memet Chairul Slamet & Gangsadewa, Agung Gunawan, Nadidada, Surya Kencana and Pragina Gong from Yogyakarta; Hanny Herlina from Jakarta; Ismanto & Gedung Mlathi from Magelang and Sura Dance from Bali.
Foreign artists that have confirmed their participation in the festival include Kim Daegun from South Korea, Ronnarong Khampa from Thailand, Angela Lopez Lara from Spain, Tony Yap Company and Ida Lawrence from Australia and Alejandro Pino Esteban and El Pilo Luis Pinaglia from Chile.
Festival art director Hernandes Saranela said the Jogja International Street Performance would basically be an art parade featuring not only contemporary dance, but also music and theatrical performances.
“We truly intend to present innovative performances,” he said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com on Sunday.
