September 16-19, Visit Monas Festival for Free!

Jakarta, Indonesia - In order to promote Jakarta culture as well as to increase residents’ proud toward National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta City Administration Government will once again hold Monas Festival on September 16-19, 2011.

“This event is a place to promote cultures. Besides, it also held to celebrate 50th Monas anniversary,” stated Head of Central Jakarta Culture Sub-Department Dewi Susanti to beritajakarta.com, Thursday (9/8).

Monas Festival will be enlivened with culture exhibitions by 25 booths. 11 of those booths will be filled with areas outside Jakarta, such as Bekasi, Pontianak, Garut, Bandung, and Surabaya. “3 stands will be filled by South Korea who will participate in this event,” she added.

Most of the booths will be filled with various superior products of Small Medium Business (UKM) which trained by local Cooperative Micro Small Medium Enterprises and Trades (KUMKMP) sub-department. And, there will be also museums in Jakarta that will take part fill in the booths.

According to her, this year the Monas Festival plans to show various traditional children games, such as Tak Kadal or Gatrik and Galasin. They will cooperate with Central Jakarta Basic Education Sub-Department so that the children are able to know and enjoy the game played by their parents. The event which targeted to attract 3.000 visitors will be opened at 9 PM and free of charge.

“We want Monas to be loved more by residents as well as youth to understand more about Monas history, so that Indonesia culture can be preserved,” she expressed.

For information, Monas Festival is an annual agenda held by Central Jakarta City Administration Government through Culture Sub-Department. This year is the third time since the first festival held in 2009.
