Seminar Covers Extensive History of The Sultanate of Brunei
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam - 2nd Borneo History Seminar that commenced at the International Convention Centre yesterday heard the extensive history of the Sultanate of Brunei, which significantly spans hundreds of years and established in the 14th Century based on the findings of the country's historians and folklore.
The seminar unveiled stories of Brunei's olden times with reference to the origin of the country's lavish culture, customs and tradition in many aspects in life like traditional wedding and music, artistic heritage and the victorious historical events of the Sultan's predecessors.
With numerous government agencies like the History Centre, the Language and Literature Bureau and the Prime Minister's Office, a compilation of the history was collected from a wide spectrum of historical accounts that even included the Sultanate of Sulu (Philippines).
It portrayed the migration of the Brunei people to several communities in the state of Sabah, and explained the foundation of close kinship amongst the populace in both countries.
Participants of the seminar were briefed on the reconstruction and disposition of the Bruneian ethnic groups that scattered across the island of Borneo, particularly Sabah and Sarawak, and the historical tales of the Malay aristocrats on the west coast of Northern Borneo.
