S`porean Minister Meets Brunei`s Minister Of Culture, Youth & Sports

Bandar Seri Begawan - Singapore`s Defence Minister, Teo Chee Hean, yesterday paid a courtesy call on Brunei`s Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Dato Major General (R) Awang Hj Mohammad bin Hj Daud at his office on Level 8 of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Building.

Also present were Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Paduka Hj Jemat bin Hj Ampal, Singaporean High Commissioner Mr Joseph K H Koh and the Deputy Permanent Secretary at Singapore`s Ministry of Defence, Ms Yeoh Chee Yan. The Singaporean defence minister and Pehin Hj Mohammad exchanged views on a number of issues relating to the development of sports in both countries including the selection process, training and preparation done by athletes, the progress of Sport School, as well as the city-state`s bid to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2010.

At the end of the meeting, both ministers exchanged gifts.

The Singaporean defence minister is in the Sultanate for a three-day official visit. He arrived on Oct 29 and will be meeting officials from various ministries during his stay in Brunei.
