Chaidir: MelayuOnline.com Growing Amazingly

Yogyakarta, MelayuOnline.com- On Wednesday (14/11/2007), the Chairman of Riau House of Representative, Drh. Chaidir, M.M., visited Balai Melayu – the office building of MelayuOnline.com – with no confirmation before to MelayuOnline.com`s crews. Hence, there was no special welcome ceremony at the time. The meeting was attended by Mahyudin Al Mudra – the head of MelayuOnline.com – along with all MelayuOnline.com`s crews.

Chaidir has been a familiar figure among MelayuOnline.com`s crews for his position as spiritual counsellor of MelayuOnline.com. Mahyudin jokingly remarked, “when Chaidir became the spiritual counsellor of MelayuOnline.com, his position as the chairman of Riau House of Representative was just a moonlighting.” Hearing Mahyudin`s speech, Chaidir laughed loudly.

Mahyudin succeeded his remark by reporting Chaidir MelayuOnline.com`s progress. MelayuOnline.com has got so many cordial appreciations from other institutions either local or international. Unfortunately, there is still no state institution from Indonesia which gives financial support to keep the existence of Melayuonline.com.

Chaidir is a right figure to position MelayuOnline.com`s spiritual counsellor remembering his intellectuality. He is a cultural expert and an academic observer as well. It can be seen from his visit at that night. He talked too seriously when the topic of this informal meeting was driven to cultural dialogue. Chaidir and all attending the meeting immersed into an enthusiastic and serious discussion. “Malay people`s attention to their own local culture is still low. Most of them have not known yet the urgency of culture.” Chaidir said.

In front of Melayuonline.com`s crews, Chaidir expressed his shame and sorry for the low frequency of regional governments` appreciation to MelayuOnline.com. Great programmes and activities like what Melayuonline.com`s do should get high appreciations. “MelayuOnline.com`s programmes to develop and study Malay cultural values are strategic efforts to establish our nation`s identity and personality. Cultural values should be developed and preserve continuously for a strong foundation to build a better future of our nation.” Chaidir said.

Chaidir also conveyed his dream of Riau Province to apply what MelayuOnline.com has been applying since several years ago in preserving and developing Malay culture. He expressed his admiration towards MelayuOnline.com for well-organized and structured Malay culture preservation programmes. “MelayuOnline.com has been applying so many amazing programmes. MelayuOnline.com grows amazingly. In other words, this is the real Malay cultural centre which proposes to establish a better future.” Chaidir remarked. (RI/brt/VI/11-07)
