MelayuOnline.com Fever
Sanggau, MelayuOnline.com- Since the first time West Kalimantan Malay Cultural Festival (FSBM-KB) was organized; this year celebration was the first time for the Center for Research and Development of Malay Culture (BKPBM) took part. This year was the fifth of FSBM-KB that was hold during July 21 – 24, 2008. Though could not totally participate in the entire sessions of the festival, BKPBM’s participation left a beautiful remembrance for all people there.
The high number of people’s interests toward BKPBM’s products such as books and souvenirs was one of the evidences. On the first day of the festival was opened, many people visited BKPBM’s stand for having some Malay books and souvenirs. While some other people, who did not buy BKPBM’s products, just took a glance at BKPBM’s stand, being curious of what MelayuOnline.com is.
A woman enthusiastically selected BKPBM’s culinary books, key rings and other souvenirs. Since she was the first visitor attending BKPBM’s stand, she brought many BKPBM’s souvenirs such as T-shirts and key rings labelling MelayuOnline.com and MalayTourism.com. In addition, BKPBM’s crews also disseminated the existence of BKPBM and its three cyber portals – MelayuOnline.com, MalayTourism.com, and RajaAliHaji.com – by spreading booklets and leaflets.
The most interesting part of BKPBM’s stand was the display of MelayuOnline.com’s offline version. “We are going to show the people here that MelayuOnline.com is a cyber portal so, we display the offline version of Melayuonline.com,” Hadi Kurniawan said. To serve the people attending BKPBM’s stand, Hadi Kurniawan intentionally demolished its wall so that people could enjoy the enchanted view of the Kapuas River that is located in the back of the stand.
People got crowded after a cultural parade – from Sanggau District Office to the festival’s venue – at 11.57 a.m. The rain was falling down at the time, but people’s eagerness did not wane at all. Some of them invited more friends to buy the same things they have bought.
Even, one of visitors had to buy a T-shirt that was bigger than his body. “You are right, it is too big. I cannot find the smaller one anymore. What can I say, I had to buy this one even though it is bigger than my body,” a visitor said.
Consequently, the first day of FSBM-KB was full of people wearing T-shirts labelling MelayuOnline.com and MalayTourism.com. One of the visitors said, “It is like a MelayuOnline.com fever.”
Unfortunately, BKPBM’s crews had to go to Sintang District for obtaining the information and data about the Almukarramah Palace and other historical sites.
