Nuda Ltd. attempting to establish co-operative missions with BKPBM

Yogyakarta, MelayuOnline.com- The Center for Research and Development of Malay Culture (BKPBM), which is actively immersing on the third wave era; now has been ready to face the fourth wave era that greatly demands creative economic as the basis. It is an era when all Malay aspect such as history, culture, literature, language, and tourism, should bring abundant economic welfare for society.

No matter how BKPBM has been actively involving itself into such endeavour, some co-operative networks are still needed to support its continuity. For that reason, BKPBM welcomes cordially to all mutual cooperation – especially on cultural preservation and development – with other institutions.

That was what Mahyudin Al Mudra conveyed when was receiving Surya Darma, an envoy of Nusa and Antarabangsa (NUDA Ltd.) from Singapore, on Tuesday (23/09/08). Surya‘s arrival at Balai Pinang Lima building – BKPBM‘s office – was aimed at attempting to establish co-operative missions with BKPBM.

NUDA Ltd. is an institution that greatly focuses on efforts to preserve Malay language and art in Singapore. Came out of the awareness of the Singaporeans who gradually begin to lost their Malay identity, the institution was established. Hence, since 2004 the institution has been concerning endlessly on Malay language and art preservations.  

“We (BKPBM and NUDA, red) have visions that are almost the same, hence I thought the way for cooperation will be opened wider,” Surya remarked. Besides, he added that further cooperation hopefully can enrich Malay language, art, and cultural studies both in Indonesia and Singapore.

“The number of the Singaporeans out there is not able to speak the Malay anymore. Therefore, we never stop teaching Malay language to them by using English for introductory language,” Surya added.

The intent of Nuda Ltd. to set co-operative missions with BKPBM shows the same awareness amongst the Malay people in the world. “Such awareness now seemingly is able to break through political and geographical boundaries,” Mahyudin said. Those all are just the same as one of MelayuOnline.com‘s goals to unite the Malay people scattered over the world under the same culture that is Malay.

At the end of the meeting, both agreed to establish co-operative missions for the future. However, clauses of cooperation have not been discussed yet at the time. For the next time, the meeting will be focused on optimizing the management of Malay cultural heritage as a mean of creating economic welfare for society. In addition, the next meeting will be conducted in Singapore, at the office of Nuda Ltd. in the midst of October 2008.
