Anti-Violence Art Exhibition Feb 25-28
Kuala Lumpur - More than 35 paintings, drawings and sculptures by 29 artists and sculptors from Malaysia, Asean countries, Palestine and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be exhibited during the International Conference on Youth and Terrorism, here.
The international art exhibition, themed "Peace - Expression of Hope", is based on the war and violence in Gaza and will take place for four days from tomorrow at the Nikko Hotel.
R A Fine Arts Gallery director, Raja Ahmad Aminullah said, the art exhibition was a platform for artists to express themselves about the world situation through their art.
"The drawings, paintings and photos can be interpreted in many ways to express the feelings of its creator, especially those from Bosnia and Palestine," Raja Ahmad told reporters here today.
He said photos depicting the suffering of Palestinians taken by local volunteer Khairil Anuar Khalid while he was in Gaza, would also be exhibited.
He said among the contributors of drawings at the exhibition are Abdul Rahman Katani and Rouhaifa Qassim from Palestine, Cazim Sarajic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Dayang Armachester Arsad (Brunei) as well as Djunaidi Kenyut and Bayu Widodo (Indonesia).
Malaysian sculptors and artists include Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal, Bayu Utomo Radjikin, Long Thien Shih, Ruzzeki Harris and Mohd Safwan Ahmad.
The exhibition, organised by the South-South Information Gateway (SSIG), with the support of the Information Ministry, Education Ministry and the Youth and Sports Ministry, will be open to the public.
Raja Ahmad said several drawings and sculptures would also be up for sale, of which proceeds would be contributed to the Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Humanitarian Aid Fund for Palestine.
