MABBIM Conference Opens

The Previous MABBIM Meeting In 2008

Bandar Seri Begawan - The 22^nd Majlis Bahasa Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia (Mabbim) Expert Conference began yesterday at the VVIP Hall, The Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong.

The launching was officiated by Dayang Hajah Norjum binti Hj Yusop, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate Services) on behalf of the guest of honour, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) of the Ministry of Education, Datin Paduka Dayang Apsah binti Haji Abd Majid.

Dayang Hjh Norjum biniti Hj Yusop in her speech said, "I believe that Mabbim has made research on the usage of terminology that has been created and not only are we enriched in languages but also we strongly emphasise in social terms of the Malay language."

Also in attendance was Pengiran Hajah Zabaidah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaludin, the head representative of Brunei Darussalam for the 22^nd Mabbim.

In her speech during the ceremony last night, Pengiran Hajah Zabaidah said, "Brunei has been counterparts in the knowledge field with Indonesia and Malaysia for 21 years while Indonesia and Malaysia have been in this field for 35 years."

"In this 35 years of existence of Mabbim, we believe empirically that all member countries have attained proficiency in this field."

Among those present at the ceremony last night were Dr Sugioyono from Indonesia, Prof Dato Dr Hajah Asmah binti Haji Omar, representative from Malaysia and staff. Edwin Eng & Azim Ghani
