Sharing of learning experiences for Bruneian students in Southampton
A group of 33 Bruneian students at the Southampton University in the UK had the opportunity to meet with Pg Abd Ghani Pg Hj Momin (Academic Co-ordinator, Education Attache), Hj Amir Azman Pokps DP Hj Abdul Rahman (High Commission of Brunei Darussalam) and Sofian Erwan Mohammad, Welfare Officer at a recent reception organised by the International Office of Southampton University.
The event was hosted by the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Southampton, Professor Alistair Fitt, and Ms Karen Arnold, Regional Director for East Asia.
The reception provided an opportunity for the new students to meet other current Bruneian students and discuss their experiences. The students were also updated on the various policies and timelines for the sponsorship/in-service arrangements.
The University of Southampton has been receiving Bruneian students since the 1960s and there are a number of prominent Bruneians who are members of the Southampton alumni.
There are currently 60 Bruneian students studying in 18 different courses including Health Professions and Rehabilitation Sciences, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, Psychology, Chemistry, Civil Engineering and the Environment, Electronics and Computer Science, Engineering Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Science and Mathematics, Geography, Mathematics, Ocean and Earth Science, Art, Education, Humanities, Law, Management and Social Sciences.
