Kg Pandan Library Hosts Youth Motivational Guidance Programme
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam - A Youth Motivational Guidance programme, held in conjunction with `Strengthening the Reading Culture 2009` campaign, was attended by over 30 youths comprising librarians in the Belait District.
The three-day programme consists of motivational talks to provide self-awareness among the participants that comprised adolescents and young adults between the ages of 12-21 years old to support the Malay Islamic Monarchy national principle and also to train them to lead an organised lifestyle and to abide by rules and regulations.
The programme, which took place at the Kg Pandan public library, was launched yesterday morning by the Acting Director of International Affairs Services and Development, Dr Mataim bin Dakar, with a motivational talk on ambition and self-confidence towards the core of success.
Prior to that, participants from 10 schools in the country heard a briefing on the roles and responsibilities of the Language and Literature Bureau in supporting the reading culture by the Head of Library, Awg Hj Saban bin Hj Nassar and also the roles of the Language and Literature Bureau in self-governing the Malay Language by the Head of Language Development Section, Awg Moksin bin Durahim.
Apart from encouraging the participants to enjoy reading, the programme also serves as a platform for them to further develop their minds and knowledge through reading materials, listening and visual aids.
In the afternoon, the participants heard a talk on the responsibilities of youths, as prescribed by Islamic perspectives by Awg Hj Hazlan bin Sahbudin.
Today, a talk will be delivered by representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Youth Development Centre and the Narcotics Control Bureau.
On the final day, representatives from the Royal Brunei Police Force will be talking about the roles and responsibilities of youths in protecting the peace and prosperity of the nation. The programme is scheduled to end in the afternoon with a certificate presentation by the Penghulu of Mukim Belait, Awg Hj Pungut bin Ali. Liza Mohd
