Malay Language Facing Many Challenges
Melaka, Malaysia- Malay which is also the national language is facing challenges that come in the form of foreign cultures.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said Malay intellectuals who regarded Malay as inferior to English were facing a psychological crisis.
"This is different from developed countries like Japan, Korea, China, France and Germany which use their own language during official communication, trade, business and the economy," he said when launching Melaka National Language Month here Friday.
His speech text was delivered by Melaka State Secretary Datuk Wira Omar Kaseh.
Ali said the Malay language was used for trade and diplomacy from the days of the Melaka Sultanate until today.
