Ministry Conducts Religious Programmes For Youth

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Takmir Masjid Committee members, Youth Association as well as Brunei Youth Council are jointly organising religious programmes throughout the month of Ramadhan to encourage youth to be involved in religious activities, and to foster closer ties between community and youth through such activities.

One of the religious programmes slated is the tedarus al-Quran. To educate youth on the benefits of reading the al-Quran and to understand its content - which will be a lifetime guideline - a tedarus al-Quran ceremony for 91 youth in Belait District was conducted in Pekan Seria mosque yesterday.

The tedarus coincided with a Khatam al-Quran ceremony, to mark the completion of reciting the 30 chapters of the al-Quran.

Present at the ceremony w the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General ( Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Awang Mohammad bin Haji Daud.

The minister took the lead in the tedarus and presented certificates to the participating youths.

The youth religious programme in Belait involved about 200 people from various government agencies, youth associations, Takmir Masjid committees and youths in the surrounding areas.
