Singapore Arts Festival takes marketing campaign online
Singapore -The organiser for the annual Singapore Arts Festival is taking its marketing campaign online. For the first time, the National Arts Council is making creative use of the Internet to drum up buzz for the festival.
Preparations for the campaign started late last year, with the council working with various public and private agencies.
"Despite the economic climate and increasing consumer prices, we are still looking at pulling in half a million people to our free and core events this year. So far, we have 8 ticketed sold out shows and we are looking at some strong performances within the next few weeks as well. So its looking pretty good," said V Leela, Deputy Director of Marketing & Partnership Development, National Arts Council.
In hopes of getting more youths to the event, organisers have also created forums on popular social networking sites such as Facebook, where viewers can upload pictures, check out events and even arrange meetings to attend performances.
Almost a quarter of the ticket sales come from youths aged between 17 and 25 years old.
Overall turnout has been good so far and the council is confident the number will exceed last year‘s attendance of 700,000. — CNA /ls
