Singapore Funds Malay Language, Literature Activities
Singapore - Singapore is providing an annual allocation of S$420,000 (RM1 million) to the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee over five years (S$2.1 million or RM5 million) to fund and support Malay language and literature activities, it was stated here.
Minister of State, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Home Affairs, Masagos Zulkifli, said this was in accordance with the recent government announcement to increase financial allocation to promote the use of the Malay language.
He urged teachers to take advantage of the funding to organise various Malay language activities at zonal and national levels.
"It is hoped that these activities will benefit more students of the Malay language," he said at the fifth anniversary celebration of the Berita Harian Media Club, here.
