Sarawak To Host
Kuching- Traditional sports like top spinning and blowpipe shooting are among the 12 events to be contested in the biennial "Sukan Borneo II" to be held here from Nov 19 to 25.
State Social and Urbanisation Minister Datuk Seri William Mawan said today the other sports were athletics, football, hockey, sepaktakraw, tennis, badminton, lawn bowl, snooker, bowling and futsal.
Speaking to reporters after chairing the "Sukan Borneo II" management committee meeting here, he said that apart from Sarawak, Sabah, Terengganu and Labuan would be joining the foreign contingents in the event.
"We have invited Kalimantan, Indonesia and Brunei to take part," he said.
He said that besides identifying new talents, the event was aimed at forging closer relationship among the states and countries concerned.
Brunei will host the "Sukan Borneo III" in 2009, followed by Labuan in 2011.
