Culture and art foster Indonesia, Russia relations
Moscow, Russian - Deputy Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexei Barodavkin said culture and art would strengthen the relations between Indonesia and Russia which have entered its 60th anniversary.
Alexei Barodavkin made the statement when opening the Indonesian Cultural Festival followed by art performances and a fashion show by Indonesian fashion designers, with Russian and Indonesian mannequins taking part, at Concert Hall MIR in Moscow Tuesday night.
The Indonesian Cultural Festival was held in three Russian cities, Moscow, Tver and St Petersburg, from May 24 to 31, in return for a similar event Russia had held in Jakarta and Yogyakarta last year.
Cultural and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik said culture and tourism is a means which will foster the relations between Indonesia and Russia.
Sixty years ago on February 3, 1950, Indonesia and Russia agreed to establish diplomatic relations. In 1954, the two countries opened their embassies in Moscow and Jakarta. (T.SYS/H-NG/S012/S026)
