Central Jakarta To Hold Students Art and Creation Show

Jakarta, Indonesia - As an appreciation for students and college students in art and cultures, Central Jakarta Sub-dept. of Culture plans to hold a student art creation show. The event will be held in Monas square and attended by 300 participants from elementary school to college in Central Jakarta.

Head of Administration for the sub-department, Ahmad Ghozali, stated that the event will be enlivened with art performances such as Betawi dance, music, theater, etc. “The most important, the event will be enlivened with painting competition themed the beauty of National Monument (Monas). Monas is identical with Jakarta and it is located in the downtown,” said Ghozali, Thursday (11/25).

The event is not only to appreciate students but also to stimulate them to spend time in positive activities. Ghozali explained, later on every participant will be free to realize their ideas for every competition. He hoped this event would encourage students to love Indonesian arts and cultures.

In his opinion, currently many teenagers imitate foreign cultures which may not be appropriate with Indonesian custom. In addition to motivating students to learn traditional arts, this event is aimed at stimulating the spirit of art, loving nation, and caring for traditional cultures.

“The event will last for three days from 4 to 6 December 2010,” he explained.
