Gebyar Pariwisata Betawi to Welcome Jakarta`s Anniversary
Jakarta, Indonesia - Various entertainment shows have been prepared in welcoming the 484th Jakarta’s anniversary on June 22. One of them is Gebyar Pariwisata Betawi (Betawi Tourism Highlights) which will be held simultaneously in 8 sub-districts in Central Jakarta on June 18 with 10 booths in each sub-district. The booths will not only show Betawi culture, but also superior products of the sub-district.
“Even though the number of booth has been determined, but there is still possibility it will add up to more than ten,” stated Head of Central Jakarta Tourism Sub-Department, Wednesday (6/15).
According to him this event is held to preserve and promote the attractions of Betawi culture and culinary arts. He hopes it can increase tourism potentials in Central Jakarta so that domestic and regional tourists interested in coming to Jakarta.
“This is also as an effort to empower residents with typical cultural entertainment of Betawi,” he added.
Moreover he explained the event will last from 10.00 until 24.00. Various attractions, such as gambang kromong (Betawi music ensemble), lenong (Betawi comedy show), ondel-ondel (giant doll trademarks of Betawi), are ready to enliven it. Central Jakarta Mayor Saefullah will officially open this event in JoharBaruSub-District.
