3,500 Dancers Training for SEA Games
Jakarta, Indonesia - Up to 3,500 dancers from various schools and universities in South Sumatra are being put through their paces by professional dance instructors among preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies of the upcoming SEA Games, South Sumatra Education Agency says.
“They will be performing in front of the President and will take part in a colossal dance show, incorporating [dances] from various cultures across this country,” agency field coordinator Misral said Monday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Misral explained that the agency would provide special permission for students to be absent from school to take part in the training and performances.
For choreographers, Misral said the event organizers had recruited professional dancers from nationally renowned studios including Idea Percussion and Batavia Dancers.
“We have involved them to help contribute to the SEA Games’ success,” he said.
The dancers are scheduled to perform at the event’s opening ceremony on Nov. 11 and closing ceremony on Nov. 22.
