RTB, Prepare For Pantun Festival

Bandar Sire Begawan- Malaysian and Bruneian artistes, who will be participating in a pantun festival between Radio Television Brunei (RTB) and Radio Television Malaysia (RTM), yesterday spent their day rehearsing at RTB`s Studio I in the capital for the first series of recordings, which is scheduled to commence today.

Present to witness the group during the rehearsal was RTB Producer, Dayang Hjh Jauyah Hj Chuchu, of the Drama Television Unit.

Participating Malaysian artistes include Zahid, Siti Sarah, Haziq, Natasha, Imuda, Bell and Wan Maimunah.

Meanwhile, their Bruneian counterparts include Azlina Jais, Zaen, Ak Amilin, Tengku Syifa, Dk Hjh Rokiah, Hj Metussin Hj Serudin, Dk Hajah Norshimah, Ashraf, Daud Iskandar, Hulubalang Diraja Hj Abd Rahman, Hjh Suma, Serudin Hj Awg Damit, Fathan and Nurharizah.

Actors Imuda, Bell and Wan Maimunah, appearing for RTM, will exchange pantun verses with Dk Hjh Rokiah Pg Hj Abdullah, Hj Metussin Hj Serudin, Dj Hajah Norshimah, Ashraf and Daud Iskandar for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri

programme, which will be recorded today and tomorrow at RTB`s Studio 1.

Meanwhile, Singers Zahid and Siti Sarah, along withAzlina Jais and Zaen, will be performing two songs each at the programme.

Furthermore, Imuda, Bell and Wan Maimunah will once again appear for RTM to exchange verses of pantun with local artistes Hulubalang Diraja Hj Abd Rahman, Hjh Suma, Serudin Hj Awg Damit, Fathan and Nurharizah for the pantun festival of Hari Raya Aidiladha, which will be recorded July 7 and 8 at RTB`s Studio 1.

Singing at the programme will be Malaysian vocalists Haziq and Natasha and Brunei stars AkAmilin and Tengku Syifa.

According to Hajah Jauyah, she said one of the objectives of the festival is to satisfy the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by RTB and RTM to strengthen ties and cooperation between the two television stations.

"It is also to portray and cultivate a positive image in the minds of the younger generation on culture and traditional values, as well as to introduce song compositions to each other," she said.
