Stop Finding Fault, Says Raja Nazrin

Stop Finding Fault, Says Raja Nazrin

Ipoh, Malaysia - The Malays need to unite in facing challenges against their identity, dignity and survival, Raja Muda Raja Dr Nazrin Shah said yesterday. He said they should stop finding fault with. He said they should stop finding fault with each other and focus on building human capital to help them now and in the future.

“The community is small... it`s knowledgeable, professional and rich, but has a dwindling number of towering personalities.

“It is time the Malays focused on strengthening their abilities and capabilities,” he said in his keynote address at the Muslim Intellectuals Discussion organised by the state government here yesterday.

He said the community should learn from past mistakes and prevent a recurrence. “Be realistic, be governed by reasoning. All of us need to spread the spirit of friendship and believe in the spirit of forgiveness.”

Raja Nazrin said the current political culture had created a thinking culture where loyalty to group beliefs was given priority over the interests of religion and the community.

Stressing that such thinking would tear the very fabric of the Malays, he said they should use their wisdom in their dealings and strive to ensure the community was not used as a “Trojan horse” by certain quarters.

“As a result, the human capital of the Muslims has started to become weaker.

“How many are going to be opera actors, wearing Malay and Muslim masks, to ridicule their own race and religion?

“If such disunity continues, there will be no winners. Instead, the winner will become charcoal and the loser will end up as dust.”

In his speech, entitled “Islam and The Malays: The Muslims` Human Capital”, Raja Nazrin said loyalty to a cause that was noble and holy should be given more importance than loyalty to the individual or group.

The three-day conference was declared opened by Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah. Present were Raja Puan Besar Tuanku Zara Salim, Raja DiHilir Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, Perak Mufti Tan Sri Dr Harussani Zakaria and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir. P. Chandra Sagaran
