Yang Di-pertuan Agong Attends 218th Meeting Of Conference Of Rulers

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin

Kuching, Malaysia - Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin attended the 218th Meeting of the Conference of Rulers at the State Assembly Building in Petra Jaya here Thursday.

He was accompanied by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The meeting was attended by all the Malay rulers except for Kelantan, which was represented by the Regent of Kelantan, Johor by the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Terengganu by the President of the Terengganu Regency Advisory Council and Pahang by the Tengku Besar of Pahang.

It was chaired by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

The governors of Sarawak, Penang, Sabah and Melaka were also present.

The rulers and governors were accompained by their menteris besar and chief ministers, except for Kelantan and Pahang which were represented by their deputy menteris besar.

This is the third time that Sarawak is hosting the meeting, after having done so in 1972 and 1992.

According to a statement issued by the Keeper of the Rulers` Seal, the topics discussed related to defense, security, religion and the appointment of Federal Court and Court of Appeal judges.
