Show Of Concern For The Pendet Dance In Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta - Some 50 dancers from Bali held an event to show their concern for the Pendet Dance at Jalan Malioboro in Yogyakarta.

There was a speech of regret for Malaysia that had earlier claimed the dance.

Dancers said they were worried that Indonesian dances and cultures would be used only as tourism commodities.

“This it is not the reason why we care,” said I Gede Agus Abdi Wiradaya, head of the Student Association from Bali, in Yogyakarta, yesterday (30/8).

He explained that diverse cultures were actually a legacy that formed the nation‘s character and personality. Muh Syaifullah
