4th `Pertemuan Sasterawan` Postponed
Bandar Seri Begawan -The 4th Pertemuan Sasterawan Brunei (PSB) that was to witness one of the biggest gatherings of the Sultanate‘s literary figures, writers and scholars under one roof has been postponed from Aug 14 to another date to be announced later.
The announcement was made by Hajah Siti Zaleha bte Haji Kaprawi, the Public Relations Officer of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) Brunei yesterday afternoon.
‘Since invitations have been sent out, therefore, it is hoped all invitees will take note of the postponement,‘ she said.
She said the opening ceremony of the gathering which was to take place at Sam, Aug 14, is also postponed.
However, the Bahana Creative Award presentation at Sam on August 14 which coincides with the PSB is not affected by the postponement.
Themed ‘Wadah Hati Nurani Penulis Kreatif‘, the award has been sponsored by Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bbd since 1998.
The award is given to spur local literary writers to produce high quality works as well as enrich the national literary heritage.
Recently, a group of literary figures met the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports to propose for the award evaluation to be widened to include writers who made literary contributions in other publications such as Media Permata and Pelita Brunei aside from Bahana.
