Two NUS`s Students Visit BKPBM
Yogyakarta, MelayuOnline.com- Two NUS`s students, Alexander and Alexandra, who are joining an internship in the Center for Southeast Asian Social Studies (PSSAT) visited the Center for Research and Development of Malay Culture (BKPBM) on Wednesday (13/08/08). Came also along the students were the Director of PSSAT Dr. Aris Arif Mundayat, the Secretary of PSSAT Gilang Desti Parahita, S.IP., and Indonesian tutors Santi and Mita.
Their coming to Balai Pinang Lima – the office building of BKPBM – was warmly welcomed by the Head of BKPBM Mahyudin Al Mudra, chief-in-editor of MelayuOnline.com Nursaed Ali Rido, the Daily Executive of BKPBM Hadi Kurniawan, and Public Relations Officer of BKPBM Yuhastina Sinaro.
Both BKPBM and PSSAT are two institutions concerning on cultural studies. Therefore, the visit of NUS`s students to BKPBM was a realization of BKPBM`s programme to facilitate domestic or foreign researchers who want to conduct Indonesian cultural heritages. According to PSSAT, Alexandra and Alexander are going to have a research on Malay culture while following an internship in BKPBM.
After hanging around Balai Pinang Lima building and observing directly the daily activities of MelayuOnline.com`s crews, an informal meeting was held in BKPBM`s meeting room. On the occasion, Mahyudin could not hide his happiness accepting two NUS`s students for an internship and a research.
“Hopefully, their researches on Indonesian culture, especially Malay culture, might bring abundant advantages for knowledge and the development of Malay civilization in the future,” Mahyudin remarked.
In the beginning of the meeting, Alexander and Alexandra expressed their willingness to have a research on Indonesian culture. Indonesia possesses multifarious cultural heritages which the number of them has not been revealed yet. On that occasion Alexandra said that she is curious about studying cultural heritages in Yogyakarta where the meeting of modern and traditional cultures occurs there. In addition, Alexander also expressed his desire to learn keroncong music. The meeting ended with a lavish repast specially hosted by Al Buruuj Catering.
