Ambon to Launch Website on Sail Banda

Ambon, Indonesia - Ambon authorities will launch a website specially dedicated to Sail Banda, an international marine event to be held in Maluku from July to August 2010.

"The Website on Sail Banda will be launched tomorrow (Feb. 2) and is aimed at promoting Sail Banda. There is a lot of information people can get if they access the website," Henry Sopacua, a spokesman of the Ambon city administration, said here on Monday.

Information on hotels, local resident home-stay accommodation, transportation, security, food and other supporting facilities would be available on the website, he said.

"Sail Banda is a golden opportunity for Maluku, especially Ambon, to promote its culture, natural resources, and tourist attractions particularly Maluku sea which is enchanting, as most of the activities will be held in Ambon," he said.

The national shipping company PT Pelni was also ready to help make the Sail Banda 2010 event a success by putting more ships into service on its route to the Banda Islands in Central Maluku, a spokesman said recently.

Bachtiar, head of PT Pelni`s Ambon branch office, said in Ambon that the national shipping company felt it bore the moral responsibility to support the international maritime event in Banda.

"We at PT Pelni are ready to help make the event a success," Bachtiar said.
