“Spirit of Majapahit” to head to Jakarta

Sumenep, Indonesia - The "Spirit of Majapahit" ship will depart from Slopeng Waters, Dasuk district, Sumenep, Madura, East Java to Jakarta on Sunday, June 27.

A local Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth, and Sports official, M. Nasir, Friday, said the ship was in Slopeng waters and ready to go since Thursday, June 24.

"Thank God, the ship has been tested, now it is ready to sail and to be operated. The ship will depart from Slopeng waters to Marina Batavia Port in North Jakarta on Sunday at 13:00 am," he said, here.

The "Spirit of Majapahit" ship is scheduled to sail to eight countries on July 4, 2010 from Jakarta, he said.

"According to plan, the Culture and Tourism Minister will release the ship that will make a journey to eight countries," Nasir said.

The "Spirit of Majapahit" ship will be manned by 10 people with captain, Maj. Denny Eko Harianto.

The ship was made under the cooperation of the "Japan Majapahit Asociation" and the Indonesian Government, based on the schedule "Spirit of Majapahit" will visit several East and South East Asian countries such as Brunei Darussalam, Japan, the Philippines, China, Vietnam, Bangkok and Singapore.

The ship was made by 15 Sumenep artisans with dimension of 20 meters long, 4.3 meters wide, and about six meters high.(*)
