KSB Represents DIY at Festival Bambu Nusantara #4

Yogyakarta - Komunitas Suling Bambu (KSB) Jogja should be proud to get the chance to represent Special Province of Yogyakarta (DIY) in Festival Bambu Nusantara #4 on 2-3 October 2010 at Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga) of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Komunitas Suling Bambu is a community whose one of its purposes is to promote the richness of national culture especially Indonesian traditional music. KSB was formed on May 2004 and currently has 1,667 members.

KSB Jogja will perform on Sunday (10/3) at 19.00 West Indonesian Standard Time, performing a song specially worked on for the festival entitled “Pulau Impian”. It will also play several traditional songs arranged by KSB and songs composed by KSB itself. Some of the songs are Ande – ande Lumut, Yamko Rambe Yamko, Danzuling, Romance from Jogja, and Pagi Cerah.

There are 19 KSB members who departed to Bandung, 13 among them are flute players and 6 people are production and documentation team. They will perform the Orchestra Suling Bambu formation which consists of soprano, alto, tenor, bass voices.

According to manager and coach Agus Budi Nugroho, flute is a means of musical education and social enlightenment derived from inexpensive, safe, natural, environment-friendly material. It is easy to use and gives space for expression to enhace people’s sensitivity and creativity in a more positive and useful activity. “It is ironic that until today not many people are willing to play or learn flute and not many school give flute lesson,” Agus stated.**(Eko Wahyu)
