Indonesia - South Sulawesi Arts to be Performed in Four Russian Cities
Moscow, Russia- Residents in four famous Russian cities were about to treated to an exotic performance of South Sulawesi art. More than a few dances, songs and fashion shows will be performed in a series of event at the end of the 60th anniversary commemorating the diplomatic bilateral relation between Indonesia and Russia.
From 24 to 30 October, residents in the cities of Moscow, Vladimir, Kazan and St. Petersburg will received a huge present from the Governor of South Sulawesi, H. Syahrul Yasin Limpo, in the form of an energetic art performance by 20 talented artists. During the 90 minutes presentation they will be dazzled by the pa’rimpungan dance, the rabbana jepeng, the traditional procession of appasiori waju, a symphony of zither and fashion show.
The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow is hard at work preparing the arrival of the art troupe that is scheduled to arrive on October 23. The scheduled performance in four cities across such a distance is a test of the Embassy’s staff endurance and perseverance.
For instance on October 24, the art troupe is scheduled to perform in Vladimir and the next day they are scheduled to hold another performance in Moscow. Meanwhile, on October 27, the troupe has to move to Kazan, which is 800 km from Moscow, and on October 30, they are expected in St. Petersburg, which is 1700 km from Kazan. For now, the Embassy staffs are extending all their effort and attention toward the success of the performance.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Russia, Hamid Awaludin, who took the time to see the practice and preparation of the South Sulawesi art troupe, commented positively. “It’s beautiful. I sincerely hope that they could promote Indonesian tourism and their own region as well”, he said.
Abdi Basith, one of the artists who are scheduled to perform in Russia, commented that the female dancers are also practicing the art of fashion show and besides dancing; they will be the models in the fashion show.
The Ambassador commented that the show would open a new horizon to the Russians that Indonesian arts are not only from Bali and from Java. The diversity in culture also includes other region, including South Sulawesi.
Now, thousands of residents in four Russian cities are getting ready for the arrival of the South Sulawesi art troupe. “I hope that the Embassy staffs are preparing themselves well and I also hope that the artists will perform as professionals so the audiences will get an experience they would not soon forget,” said the Ambassador.
