Sungai Liang MPK Organizes Gulingtangan Workshop

Kuala Belait, Brunei Darussaam - Some 50 individuals had attended a two-day workshop on playing the traditional musical instrument of `gulingtangan'. The workshop organised by Kg Sungai Liang Village Consultative Council (MPK) was to promote and teach members of the public interested to play the `gulingtangan'.

The workshop was held at Sungai Liang Beach Recreational Complex recently and launched by Awang Matusin Orang Kaya Sura Hj Tuba, the Belait Distirct Officer with the beating of a gong.

Among other things, Hj Abdul Wahab Abdullah the village head of Kg Sungai Liang, said the objectives of the workshop were not only to preserve the traditional Malay music but also to pass on the tradition and skills to those interested individuals especially the young generation.

Nine trainers from the cultural bureau of Kg Sungai Liang MPK conducted the workshop over the weekend.
