Serumpun Culture Jamboree

Sambas, Indonesia - The Brunei Darussalam Scout Association will join the Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam Serumpun Cultural Jamboree in West Kalimantan. The mission of the camping was to introduce the culture of Brunei Community through various cultural forms such as dances, songs, delicacies and food. This afternoon, a handing-over ceremony of national flag was held at the Headquarters Building of the Brunei Darussalam Scout Association in Gadong.

A Legislative Council member, Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Awang Haji Idris, who is the President of the Brunei Darussalam Scout Association, in his speech, expressed hope that the Jamboree will serve its purpose and meet its objective to create a lasting regional peace in line with the ASEAN and international spirit. The national flag was handed over to the leader of the contingent, Awang Haji Othman Durani. The Cultural Jamboree will be held from the 14th to the 18th of this month at Kabupaten Sambas. The delegation consists of fifty-two members of the Scout Association.

Earlier, a Scout leader from Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Awang Mohamad Syahmi received an epaulette. The objectives aimed at raising awareness that the serumpun cultural is a joint-national culture of Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia apart from enhancing territorial national relations and inheriting cultural noble values to the younger generation.
