Indonesia: the Musical Shines on Melbourne

Melbourne , Australia - A colourful children’s musical is coming to Melbourne to teach people more about Indonesia and its culture.

The Balinese Princess and the Funky Monkey is on until January 15 at the Melbourne City Conference Centre.

The “educational musical” tells the story of a Balinese princess, Ayu, and her monkey friend, Kren, who need to save Bali from a fiery mountain.

The performance is filled with comedy, song and dance and is aimed at children aged 3-12.

Port Phillip resident Talisa McGregor plays the Royal Dancer.

Talisa has studied jazz ballet, tap, contemporary dance and classical ballet for four yearsas well as studying singing and the piano.

Lela McGregor wrote, produced and directed the performance.

She said she created the show so she could explore her Indonesian heritage and share her culture with Melbourne.
