More offerings at Borneo Cultural Festival

Sabah, Malaysia - The 10th edition of the Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) will be held for 10 days from July 15.

Its working committee chairman Daniel Ngieng, who is also Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) deputy chairman, said the main components of this year’s BCF consisted of a cultural section as well as a trade and exhibition section.

The cultural section consists of the Chinese, Malay-Melanau and Dayak stages, handicraft and food stalls; and the trade and exhibition section consists of booths for commercial products and services.

Ngieng said the BCF, which is organised by SMC, had become an iconic community-based event in Sibu to promote tourism, the people’s rich cultural heritage and local products.

He urged the public to join hands with SMC to promote BCF through the electronic media such as on Facebook and informing friends through emails.

“Sibu has been more widely known nationally and internationally through BCF. We also want our youths to come forward to learn and appreciate our cultures,” Ngieng said.
