Prizes for Poetry Declamation Competition
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam - The Language and Literature Bureau will hold a writing workshop for children in which the participants will produce children’s books. This initiative is to empower the Malay language among the children particularly in writing.
The Acting Director of Language and Literature Bureau, Dayang Hajah Aminah binti Haji Momin stated this at the prize presentation of Poetry Declamation Competition for secondary school students throughout the country in conjunction with Brunei Book Festival 2011.
Mohammad Athhar Ridzwan bin Haji Mohammad Alamizan, of the PadukaSeriBegawanSultanScienceCollege won the male category while Dayangku Khairunnisa Nurasikin bin Pengiran Asmali of the RajaIsteriPengiranAnakSalehaSecondary School won the female category. Their poetry touched on the development of Malay Language in the country.
The winners of the drawing and coloring competitions also received their prizes. The coloring competition for children aged six to nine was won by Noor Mohammad Khairullah bin Salim while the drawing and coloring competition for children aged 10 to 12 was won by Alvin Yong Chie Yew.
