17 Racing Yachts Expected to Enter Ambon on Thursday

Jakarta, Indonesia - Seventeen yachts taking part in the Sail Wakatobi-Belitong 2011 rally are expected to reach Amahusu Beach in Nusaniwe, Indonesian city of Ambon, on Thursday.

As of Thursday morning, 15 yachts had reached the location, and the steering committee of the rally are currently awaiting the final two.

“Only two yacht participants have not reached the finish yet, namely Wicked captained by Danny Foley and Solace III captained by Roger Hatten,” steering committee chief Robin Tix from Darwin, Australia, from where the yachts set off on the weekend, told Antara in Ambon on Thursday.

Tix added that Wicked and Solace III were expected to arrive before midday.

He also said Fantasia, captained by Andrew Stransky, was the first to arrive, having reached Ambon on Monday evening, with other yachts arriving the next day.

A total of 111 yachts are participating in the event, taking several different routes, and are scheduled to visit a total of 21 Indonesian regencies.

The rally is expected to run for two months, and is expected to conclude in Singapore.
