Traditional Betawi Children’s Games Free for All at Monas Festival
Jakarta, Indonesia - Visitors of the Monas Festival at the National Monument can enjoy traditional Betawi games for children, such as walking with coconut shells, jumping rope and toppling tiles with a ball made of paper at the festival that ends on Sunday.
Ahmad Mukhlis, the committee member in charge of the games, said that the games were traditionally played in gardens or empty plots of land, as reported by kompas.com.
The heat, however, beating on the cement flooring of the futsal court, caused some children and teenagers to stand on their tiptoes.
The games are free for all to try and the committee has prepared vouchers for free music downloads from a website for game winners.
