Indonesia confers highest civilian honour on former Singapore Ambassador
Singapore- Singapore‘s former Ambassador to Indonesia Mr Edward Lee has been conferred Indonesia‘s highest civilian honour.
Mr Lee on Tuesday received the "Bintang Jasa Utama" or the First Class Order of Service Award in a ceremony in Singapore.
He was Singapore‘s Ambassador in Jakarta from 1994 to 2006.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the award is bestowed upon Indonesian citizens and foreigners, who have rendered great service to the people of Indonesia.
So the Indonesian government recognises Mr Lee‘s "outstanding and extraordinary contributions" in promoting relations between Singapore and Indonesia.
MFA stressed that the award reaffirms the commitment of both countries towards enhancing bilateral relations.
