Spirit of self-help and unity has helped Malay/Muslim community progress: Yaacob
Singapore- Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Dr Yaacob Ibrahim has said the Malay/Muslim community has continued to make progress in education, employment and quality of life, along with other fellow Singaporeans.
He said the spirit of self-help and unity have helped the community score these achievements.
In his Hari Raya message, Dr Yaacob also called on Malay parents to play their part.
He said, "We must imbue in children the spirit of self-help and unity as a community and nation. We must always stand united. If every head of a family is able to guide his family well, we will not be saddled with dysfunctional families and youth promiscuity. We must strengthen every family to avoid social problems in the community."
Dr Yaacob said these issues would be discussed at the upcoming Malay/Muslim Community Leaders Forum.
