Camps to forge ties between students across South-East Asia
Singapore- Secondary school students from four South-East Asian countries are taking part in special camps aimed at forging friendships through national borders, Singapore`s education ministry said on Tuesday. The 400 youngsters from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei are involved in "team-building adventure activities and games that promote international collaboration and bonding," the ministry`s statement said.
The Singapore-Brunei camp started on Monday and lasts until November 17, followed by Singapore-Indonesia from November 19-23 and Singapore-Malaysia from December 3-7.
The camps are also educating the students on the need to conserve the natural environment and cultural heritage.
Among the activities are nature hikes, nocturnal learning journeys, dragon-boat racing, treks along urban trails, cultural performances and kayaking.
