More than 3,800 Singaporeans receive National Day Awards
Singapore- More than 3,800 people received the National Day Awards from President S R Nathan on Monday evening.
Mr S Dhanabalan received the highest honour - The Order of Temasek, Second Class.
The political veteran held several heavyweight positions in the cabinet, including Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Trade and Industry. But he is now more well known as the chairman of Temasek Holdings, managing Singapore`s investments.
All members of the cabinet were present at the ceremony, which was held at SuntecCity.
Other recipients included charity activist Gerard Ee. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, his third public service medal.
Mr Ee hit the headlines after he became chairman of the troubled National Kidney Foundation in 2005.
