Malaysia to host conf. for world Muslim scholars in February
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia will play host to the World Ulama Conference (for Muslim scholars) as of February 15.
Egypt`s Al-AzharUniversity - the organizer of the conference - has chosen Kuala Lumpur as host of the five-day event, said Religious Advisor to Malaysian Prime Minister Abdul-hamid Othman in a press release here Friday.
Prime Minister Abdullah Bin-Ahmad Badawi will open the conference which will gather Muslim "ulama" (scholars) from around the globe, Othman disclosed.
The conferees are expected to deal with efforts to eradicate poverty, backwardness and persecution across the Muslim world as well as efforts aiming to ensure honorable life for all Muslims, he pointed out.
The conference aims to promote tolerance, the culture of science, and equilibrium between religious and worldly sciences.
It will also deal with economic issues, good-governance and management of resources of the Muslim nations with a view to cementing cooperation among these nations, Othman added.
