Malaysia, Brunei Sign MoU On Arts, Films
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia and Brunei, through the Film Directors Association of Malaysia (FDAM) and Brunei Darussalam Karyawan Seni Association and the Association of Producers of Television Entertainment Drama (GAPHAR), Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in the field of arts and film production.

The agreement, signed by FDAM president Ahmad Ibrahim and GAPHAR president Pengiran Abu Bakar Pengiran Datuk Paduka Mohammad, involves collaboration in the production of drama and films, workshops on film production as well as hosting of international film trade expositions.

Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (Finas) chairman Senator Tan Sri Jins Shamsuddin, speaking at the function, said the signing of the MoU would pave the way for greater cooperation between Malaysia and Brunei in film production and arts.

"It is also a way to unite the people from both countries, through culture," he added.

He said the signing of the MoU was also in line with the desire by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin to see Malaysia`s arts and products able to penetrate international markets.
