BKPBM`s monthly Meeting: Together Establishing Malay World
Yogyakarta, MelayuOnline.com- A good institution should continuously run its programs by implementing following systematic steps: planning, implementing, and evaluating. Hopefully, such systematic steps will improve the sustainability of the institution. Likewise, Balai Kajian dan Pengembangan Budaya Melayu-BKPBM (The Center for Research and Development of Malay Culture) with its portals, MelayuOnline.com,MalayTourism.com, and RajaAliHaji.com routinely holds monthly meeting, which is a forum for planning and evaluation.
The monthly meeting was taken place on Wednesday, June 4th, 2008 attended by all BKPBM staffs including Mahyudin Al Mudra – the head of BKPBM and three new BKPBM‘s staffs; Ali Amin, Junardi, and Dodi Wahyu S.
The meeting was opened by BKPBM‘s chief-in-editor, Nursaed Ali Rido who presented the reports of BKPBM‘s portals during May 2008. MelayuOnline.com‘s progress was delivered by Nursaed Ali Rido. In his report, MelayuOnline.com still makes some evaluation on Malay Literature menu. Preparing French version of MelayuOnline.com is also on his list. A new agenda for interviewing some prominent public figures is also listed on MelayuOnline.com‘s plan.
Lukman Solihin, editor-in-chief of MalayTourism.com also reported MalayTourism.com‘s development during May 2008. Lukman reported, MalayTourism.com has published Tourism Column containing short essays on tourism and travelling. He also suggested that all MalayTourism.com‘s crews spend several minutes a day for reviewing their uploaded articles.
Ahmad Salehudin, editor-in-chief of RajaAliHaji.com also reported RajaAliHaji.com‘s progress during May 2008. According to Ahmad, RajaAliHaji.com‘s development is progressive enough. However, written sources about Raja Ali Haji are hard to be found. Therefore, starting from the next month, RajaAliHaji.com‘s crews will focus on studying Raja Ali Haji‘s works, especially those at BKPBM‘s library.
Teuku Cut “Poncut” Mahmud Aziz delivered his report representing the progress of Development and Research Division. According to Poncut, Development and Research Division has been establishing some cooperation and relationships with some institutions such as the Faculty of Social and Political Science of Gadjah Mada University in hosting International Seminar Indonesia-Malaysia Update 2008; Center for Southeast Asian Social Studies; and data exchange with Oral Tradition Association. Some agendas for the next months have been arranged by this division such as Journalistic Training for MelayuOnline.com‘s crews.
Responding those reports, Mahyudin Al Mudra stated that those portals‘ development is just like “miraculous babies” since they can grow faster only in several months. Cordial appreciation from individuals and institutions, either local or international is the evidence. “Don‘t stop dreaming of being the greatest portals in the world!” Mahyudin said. However, dreaming merely is not enough to achieve such goals. Dreaming demands good cooperation and coordination to achieve such purposes. “We must walk along to establish Malay civilization in the frame of good cooperation with less bureaucratic system within.” He added.
In the same way, vice manager of BKPBM, Hadi Kurniawan suggested BKPBM‘s staffs to continuously improve coordination with each others. Coordination is not a top-down order, but an intensive communication among the staffs in the context of one family. Hadi also suggested that intensifying relationship with other institutions either local or international must be kept well by publishing BKPBM‘s programs through MelayuOnline.com and two other websites.
