The inauguration began at 7.30 p.m. attended by some public figures of Riau Islands Province. Among them were Ir. Condroyono, the Head of Yogyakarta Tourism Board; Drs. H. M. Taufik Ilyas, Karimun District Secretary; Datok H. Abdul Razak, the Head of Adat Council of Riau Malay; Dr. Ir. Said Fadhilah Alatas, M. Si.; and an Indonesian Pantun Maestro, Muhamad Ali Achmad.

In their remarks, those people summoned all Malay people settling Yogyakarta to tighten up the unity as Indonesians. Malay people, especially those from Riau Islands, have close relationships with common people in Yogyakarta since they live in the city. Hence, every one must be appreciative with such cultural differences in this city of culture, Yogyakarta.

Condroyono said, “Yogyakarta City is a miniature of Indonesia, so we have to learn to tolerate, to appreciate, and to respect cultural differences in this city. It is important to raise the awareness of diversities as it will bring God`s blessing for all Indonesian people.”

Similarly, Taufik Ilyas conveyed that Riau Islands people must be more appreciative with the various characteristics of every nation, especially with our own country. The ability to adapt to different cultures gives sense about how to live in a nation with various cultural backgrounds.

In addition, Taufik Ilyas also described some significant progress in Karimun District in economic and tourism. “Karimun District is a great potency for foreign investors. Foreign investors enthusiastically come to Karimun to invest their capitals. Besides, tourism sector begin to arise for the overwhelming tourism potency there.” Taufik said “For all Karimun`s scholars, don`t be afraid of having no job after graduating from colleges. There are numerous jobs waiting for you at home, in Karimun District.” He added
