Indonesia hosts talks on Southern Thailand unrest

Jakarta - Indonesia`s government says it will host another round of talks over the troubles in southern Thailand in November after a weekend of inconclusive discussions outside Jakarta.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono met Thai Muslim delegates, led by the chairman of the Consultative Council of the Patani Malay People, Wahyuddin Mohammad, at the presidential palace on Monday.

He had met a Thai team led by General Khwanchart Klahan on Saturday.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla mediated the talks in Bogor on Saturday and Sunday, that produced several points as reference for the next meeting.

The Thai government says it`s not involved in the talks.

The Bangkok Post quotes the Foreign Ministry as saying the government had not asked Jakarta to act as a mediator, because the situation in the South is an internal conflict.
