BKPBM Can Promote Kepri`s Potencies
Yogyakarta, MelayuOnline.com- On Sunday (26/10) after attending a gathering of Riau Islands People Community (KMPKR), the Chair of Riau Islands Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Drs. Suhajar Diantoro, M.Si. and his retinue could spend a few minutes visiting Balai Pinang Lima, the office building of Balai Kajian dan Pengembangan Budaya Melayu-BKPBM (the Center for Research and Development of Malay Culture).
The visiting was aimed at discussing BKPBM‘s progress in developing Malay culture through MelayuOnline.com, MalayTourism.com, and RajaAliHaji.com. Came amongst the entourage were Datok H. Abdul Razak, the Chair of Riau Islands Malay Adat Assembly; H. M. Ali Achmad, a Maestro of Indonesian Pantun; Ir. H. Said Fadhilah Alathas, the Chair of KMPKR; and Drs. Mustari, M.Hum., a member of KMPKR.
In an informal meeting, Hadi Kurniawan – the Daily Executive of BKPBM – said, “MelayuOnline.com has reached eight millions visitors so far. And MalayTourism.com can reach about 10 thousands visitors in a day.”
However, he added, the lack information on culture, tourism, and Raja Ali Haji often becomes obstacles for further development of BKPBM. For that reason, Kurniawan wished the visit could be a way to establish mutually co-operative networks between Bappeda of Riau Islands and BKPBM.
Responding to the remark, Diantoro personally admitted that he appreciates greatly the efforts of BKPBM so far. According to him, Malay cultural preservation should actively involve Riau Islands Malay people within.
Such an opinion was based on a fact that Raja Ali Haji was born in RiauIslands, specifically in PenyengatIsland. Starting from Raja Ali Haji, RiauIslands becomes famous as one of the most deep-rooted Malay regions in Indonesia. That is why, they planned to invite crews of BKPBM to attend in a celebration of 200th years of Raja Ali Haji.
To some extent, Riau Islands Provincial Government promised to open the widest chances to BKPBM‘s crews for undertaking researches, especially on cultural and tourism subjects in the province. “Now, every district of RiauIslandsProvince is urged to promote its own regional potencies. Therefore, those cyber portals can hopefully promote the abundant potencies that can be found in the province,” he added.
Before the meeting ended, Yuhastina Sinaro jokingly said, “the number of governmental staffers have established co-operative networks with us, but rare of them having strong commitments to run real programmes.”
